Marrakech, all the events 2024 not to be missed

Few selected events to mark in your diary, including culture, art, sport, music and much more.

January 28 – Marrakech Marathon: since 1987 the Marrakech city marathon and half marathon have been attracting thousands of participants worldwide. On January 28th, over 9,000 athletes will compete on the route that runs along the city’s oldest streets and crosses the main cultural spot, offering  Definitely, awalkway through the historical, cultural and architectural heritage of Marrakech.

8 – 11 February – 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair: this year has a second venue, beyond La Mamounia, the event will also be held at the DaDa art gallery and multidisciplinary space, located in Jemaa El Fna square and recently restored. The weekly fair offers a program full of moments dedicated to art, with the possibility of admiring works created by established artists and emerging young creators.

1 – 7 April – ATP 250 Final Tennis Marrakech: the tournament takes place on the red clay courts of Marrakech, the only stop of the ATP Tour on the African continent. Not to be missed!

4 – 8 July – Festival National Arts Populairs – FNAP: this year’s festival is entitled ‘Eternal Rhythms and Symbols’, will see the participation of more than 600 artists from the four corners of the Kingdom, each bringing with them a part of the soul of their region. Through spellbinding performances, the FNAP offers a showcase for indigenous talent and its abundant creativity. Each region, from the Atlas mountains to the Sahara and the Atlantic coast, has its own unique heritage, expressed in enchanting songs, energetic dances and artistic expressions rooted in the depths of artistic expressions rooted in the depths of time.

6 September – Lost Nomade Festival Marrakech: from dusk until the first light of dawn, Lost Nomads will vibrate with music from great international artists, amongst whom Soloumon stands out. Only 2000 people per day will be able to enjoy an unforgettable experience in a completely different environment – the imposing Agafay desert in Morocco. But the captivating approach of Lost Nomads doesn’t stop there. The festival has developed an interesting social program to support local communities of the Agafay desert

27 Sept – 2 OctThe Marrakech Short Film Festival: a weeklong open air  festival with a daily audience, showcasing short films by emerging and  established  directors. The two hour ticketed events will include the screening of works selected by the jury, whose age, gender and ethnic diversity will reflect the inclusivity of Marrakech’s cultural scene.

3 – 7 October – ULTRA Trail Atlas Toubkal (UTAT): following the earthquake that struck Morocco, ATLAS QUEST has made every effort to support the Atlas region, affirming our unwavering connection to this land and its people. Participating in ATLAS QUEST is much more than a race! Fdays immersed in the beauty of the Atlas, where every step is a discovery and every evening spent in the camp strengthens the bonds between participants and with the welcoming land that brings us together. A moment of life like few others.

23 – 24 October – Les Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech: experience the essence of visual storytelling at Les Rencontres de la Photographie Marrakech, Morocco’s premier photography festival. An independent festival in its fourth edition. The festival is organized by the association Voix Plurielles who wishes to highlight cultural projects that contribute to the animation and enrichment of city life.

29 Nov – 7 Dec – International Film Festival Marrakech: it returns for its twentieth edition this year, and wishes to pay heartfelt tribute to the victims of the tragic natural disaster that struck the region in Sept 2023. It will pay tribute to two exceptional personalities: the legendary, greatly talented Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, and the brilliant Moroccan director Faouzi Bensaïdi, whose films shine at the most prestigious festivals.
